The best part about Facebook: Status updates

September 18th, 2008

There’s a lot of hating go on towards Facebook right now due to their new look.  As long as they don’t change the status updates I can learn to adapt. Status updates are by far my favorite thing about Facebook. It oddly comforts me knowing the drivel that occasionally goes on in my friends lives and it’s surprising how witty my friends are at crafting their status updates. I have to admit that I feel some sense of pressure to not write “just anything” on there. And if we were all being honest all of our status updates would read “so and so is…geeking out on Facebook. Duh!”

If you haven’t seen this video by idiotsofants.com where they brilliantly make fun of us all for using Facebook you must. Seriously, stop right now and watch…are you watching? Okay good - I should hear all about on your status update.

Sarah Palin: The biggest U.S. hoax since H.G. Wells 1938 broadcast of the “War of the Worlds”

September 3rd, 2008

Okay, I’m kidding of course so don’t panic.

I’m not trying to be funny, and I don’t need to be because this new Rep. VP Candidate is a complete joke. When I first heard that McCain announced his VP choice was a woman I thought, “That’s probably a smart move.” But when I heard him introduce her, heard her speak, read about her political and moral (although it would seem that word is somewhat subjective here) I thought, “What?! You can’t just grab any woman in politics, especially not one as unoriginal as this lady!”

When it comes to our country’s leaders we should look for someone who is clearly exceptional. Even if you look past all of Palin’s ridiculous convictions such as an adamant stance on abstinence (that clearly worked for her family), views on the energy crisis (let’s go ahead and rip up all our natural resources…who cares about our wildlife and future generations) and anti abortion stance (even in the case of incest and rape…how thoughtful), she still is an average citizen with an average college education and less than average idea of just exactly how this country should be run. Do you really want an average person anywhere near the oval office?  This country deserves and desperately needs a person who is beyond average, we need a person who is exceptional.

Out of all the men and woman who have dedicated their life to public service, some of whom have pulled themselves up by their own bootstraps and clearly are exceptional, do you honestly think that McCain thought Palin would be the absolute BEST for the job? It clearly was motivated by pure political tactic. It’s becoming increasingly clear that the country wants change! McCain had to challenge the fresh views that Obama can offer our country in order to win. And you know what, this country does need a change! But as the HuffingtonPost pointed out, Palin offers a fresh face to politics but comes nowhere near offering a fresh change in good ol boy politics, haven’t we had enough of that!? A true leader should always have the nation’s best interest in mind and it is incredibly obvious that there are so many other people out there that could do a better job than Palin. Politicians do what they have to get elected and many times their tactics are not fair, ethical or filled with integrity…but Palin…you gotta be kidding me!

The thought has actually crossed my mind that perhaps this is some sort of brilliant and ridiculously risky political strategy by McCain. One where he lets all this primetime drama about Palin out and then takes her off the ticket. That way he could claim that he admits when he’s wrong and actually listens to the people unlike certain other Republican Presidents we know. Perhaps this is all a well crafted political hoax. That sounds weird but honestly at this point it sounds better than the truth. It’s all so hilarious in a really sick and disturbing way.

If you want to read something really hilarious then you should read this awesome blog post I found titled, “Palin vs. Obama: Line by Line Resume Comparison” on the Buck Eye State Blog. Do the right thing people and see through all this bullshit.
